be some spectacular activities going on. Some are annual events and some are
special occasions, holidays and fundraisers. Each year these events will attract thousands of locals, tourists and expats to this warm, beautiful and friendly place. Below I have
listed a few highlights from each month.
The start of a New Year as with the rest of the world, people are recovering from the night before.
Three Kings Day comes soon after and is the best day for local children. This is when kids leave their shoes out, in the hopes they will receive gifts. No gifts are given on Christmas day.
The Vallarta Race Cup Series is held during this month starting at the Vallarta Yacht Club.
All of the baby sea turtles should be released by now.
This is of course the month of love. And yes, they do celebrate Valentines Day in Puerto Vallarta.
There is a five day carnival including parades and street dancing.
National Vallarta Charro's Competition is a must do.
This month is filled with music and art festivals.
Expect lots of spring breakers and partying.
The Banderas Bay Regatta is going on this month which is a huge crowd pleaser.
The Humpback whales return in March to mate and give birth.
This is the busiest month of all and spring breakers are still partying.
The whole month of April is a dance festival at the Malecons Los Arcos {the Arches}.
Holy Week is the biggest Catholic Holiday leading up to Easter Sunday. Catholicism is the largest religious denomination in Mexico and Puerto Vallarta is no exception.
Labor Day is celebrated Mexican style.
The Built for Speed Regatta is an annual event in May.
Mothers are Queen for the Day, it is Mothers Day around the world.
Soccer fans will want to see Copa Vallarta Soccer held mid month.
Navy day is celebrated on the 1st of the month.
The San Blas International Fishing Tournament is held in Puerto Vallarta annually. There are music, art festivals and fundraisers.
Golfing with celebrities at local tournaments.
The month ends with a big party in Las Palmas.
The Sea Turtles come to the Puerto Vallarta beaches to lay their eggs.
Riviera Nayarit hosts The International Tuna and Marlin Fishing Tournament.
The Festival of Corn is an 8 day festival held in the town of Xalisco which is a short bus ride away from Puerto Vallarta.
Mid August, the first of the baby sea turtles are released and this goes on until February of the next year.
Vallarta Botanical Gardens holds their annual Rainforest Cocao and Vanilla festival.
September has three major events around mid month. You do not want to miss Charro's Day, the Cry of Delores and Independence Day. These are all annual festivals and sure to please. Lots of festivities, music and dancing.
October is a quieter month in Puerto Vallarta. There are lots of conferences and retreats booked.
The Annual Art Walk starts at the end of this month.
Halloween is celebrated by children and local bars. Halloween leads into the next two days of Novembers Events.
November is a busy month for events and the tourists start flocking here to escape the cold. The month starts off with the Day of the Dead. Fitting since it was Halloween the night before.
There are many various festivals held this month.
December hosts many boating contests including The Dine and Dash Race.
Religious pilgrimages and reenactments of many Biblical events.
You will see whole communities come together to embrace the true meaning of Christmas.
